Happy talk like a pirate day…

Don’t bug me. Dane has the day off and I’ve got to get TWiT 113 and The Tech Guy 388 out the door before I go home. Oh yeah, and Munchcast 7! It’s been a long time since I had to burn the midnight oil editing TWiT. It really makes me appreciate Dane’s help, and the TWiT donors that made Dane’s salary possible!
Amber was back tonight and we recorded a new net@nite. There were some technical issues during recording so the Talkshoe version won’t sound so hot for the first 15-20 minutes. The podcast will be fine – that comes out on TWiT.tv Tuesday.
After recording, Amber and I talked about our grueling schedules. She pointed out that most TV shows don’t go continuously. They’ll end their seasons, take some time off to refresh, then come back for a new season. She suggested that maybe we should do that with netcasts, too.
I certainly would welcome some time off – but the idea of going into hiatus with our shows scares me, too. I think most people want and expect the show to be there every week. It’s part of their routine. I’d be afraid that people would forget us if we took a month or so off every year (not all at once mind you, but one netcast at any given time). As listeners what do you think?

I was reluctant to brick my own iPhone, but thanks to David K. MacArthur of Fast Cash Pawnbrokers who FedExed me an unactivated iPhone from his large collection of pawned phones today, I decided to sit down with Shooby’s excellent instructions and try iUnlock.
It worked flawlessly the first time and I am sitting looking at an iPhone on T-Mobile. I just checked my voice mail: No Visual Voice Mail® – who cares – but it works swell!
Just as I finished, of course, iPhone Dev Team announced an all-in-one GUI unlock, so now it’s even easier. I wonder if Scott Bourne will believe me?

I just got the Explorer Jacket from Scott E-Vest. It’s my new favorite – and I have pretty much everything Scott does. It’s a 3/4 length jacket in a very suede-like microfiber with a lightweight quilted lining and more pockets than ever. And it just looks and feels so good. Thanks, Scott!
We don’t have a TWiT version of this jacket, but we do have SeV TWiT hoodies, fleeces, and hats. You can get them from the great folks at ThinkGeek. Profits from the TWiT SeV merchandise help support the show, and you’ll feel good announcing that you’re a TWiT to the world!
And don’t forget to use the TWIT coupon code when you order anything from SeV for 20% off!
We now return you to Bioshock, already in progress.

For those who are interested I’ve published a colophon page for this site here, including a complete list of the plug-ins I am using.

Pieter Knuvers sent me this ad appearing today in Germany…

But is it an iPod or iPhone?
(Incidentally – check out Pieter’s web site – is this the most wired guy in the Netherlands or what?)
UPDATE: Fab writes in the comments below that this ad is a fake according to Heise.de.

I came so close to unlocking my iPhone this morning, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger.
Shooby has unlocked his using iUnlock – the free unlocker from Harro Inc. the iPhone Dev Team. That’s a picture from his phone showing T-Mobile as a carrier – he posted the news on Pownce.
I got as far as running iFuntastic on the phone (Windows users should try the scarily named, iBrickr) but it didn’t quite finish completely, and I just don’t have the nerve to run iUnlock on it now.
It would be great to cancel this AT&T account (instead of cancelling my dormant T-Mobile account), but it would be even better to show an unlocked phone to the perennially skeptical Scott Bourne.
Maybe I’ll get up the nerve later today.

One word, five syllables: sigmoidoscopy. At least you could buy me dinner first.
