24 Hours of iPhone
Posted By Leo On July 10, 2008 @ 8:18 am In Blog,News | 36 Comments
I’m going live in a few hours and won’t be off the air until tomorrow.
We’re calling this insanity “24 Hours of iPhone.” Starting at 10a today (July 10) I’ll be doing my usual Thursday slate of shows on TWiT Live [1], including Roz Rows, Windows Weekly, and Jumping Monkeys. But in between shows, I’ll also be talking with folks waiting in line for the new iPhone. Then at 3p Pacific we go live with wall-to-wall coverage of the iPhone launch.
The first 3G phones are already being sold in New Zealand and as Apple Stores open at 8am local time worldwide we’ll be talking with folks in line. We’re also giving away store credit for 10 iPhones, each with $100 credit toward Audible audio books to random callers during the program, thanks to our fantastic sponsor Audible.com [2]
At 5p Pacific/8 Eastern/midnight UTC we’ll be talking with Steve Wozniak about his new iPhone. Other special guests will join us through the night. I’ll continue until the last Apple store opens its doors in Honolulu, Hawaii, at 11a Eastern Friday July 11.
Join us for this marathon celebration of the launch of the iPhone 3G on TWiT Live! [1]

Leo, you can have 2.0 right now. Cnet has a link to the update and you can sync it to your Touch manually.
[...] has been discussed in the tech press, and the iPhone in particular is currently the subject of much hype and publicity, having gone on sale today. Both of these things, however, have eclipsed a couple of developments [...]

What number do we call in to try and win an iphone while on line?
Hello Leo, don't leave the Hawaii folks hanging? The Honolulu store opens at 8am Hawaii time on Friday July 11th. 8am Hawaii time is 2pm East Coast time. You say above that you will continue until 11am East Coast time……that is 5am Hawaii time, the store will not be open yet in Hawaii!?!?!? I am a die hard and would love to be the last winner of the Iphone and will be there early, but just dont forget about us in Hawaii, finish off the '24 hours of Iphone' right! Thank You, love your work!

Yeehaw! Russian and Cowboy Leo! http://drop.io/twit/asset/russian-cowboy-leolap…
I really enjoyed the 24 hours of TWiT Live. Congratulations to Leo and Dane for their dedication, good humor, and endurance. Getting the global reports was really cool.
LEO THIS IS TIMMY PLEASE LOOK AT MY Emails
Just wanted to let you know Leo that what you are doing is fantastic. Don't know if you read any of these things but I hope that you do. THe 24 hours of iphone coverage that you just did was just a continuing example of the quality work that you do. please don't get too polished at this cause I believe that all of us are drawn to you because of how real and down to earth you are. You have the magic, just let it continue. Thank you again for EVERYTHING that you have given and shared with all of us. It is all appreciated and respected.
Can someone help me. My Screen flipped 180 degrees and I don't know what command to use to rotate the desk top back right side up.
Leo rawks!
Leo Have you seen this?

No fun
I just wanted to say thank you Leo for that awesome 24 hr coverage of the iphone. And thank you for all of those fantastic podcasts and sharing part of your life with us. people enjoy listening and watching you just because you are so genuine. Don't get too polished, you already have the secret formula.
Well, Mr. Sarcastic, aren't you sorry now that you made fun of all those I-Ready videos? If you and your oh-so-funny friends on MacBreak had encouraged people to watch the videos instead of mocking poor Larry Meyer, people would have been prepared, ITunes servers wouldn't have crashed, the Internet wouldn't have been so slow yesterday, and perhaps, just maybe, we could have ended war and solved world hunger. But no. You had to play it for laughs. Who is laughing now?
In Canaa there were like no lineups for th 3g , maybe cus of the Plans
And of course, I was on vacation at my grandparent's house with no connection. I really wish I were there!
Thanks for all of your hard work Leo.
maybe when my current contract is up. price might be lower then.
I new that this time around was going to be more of the same. Huge line, no service, no inventory, horrible customer service, etc…AT&T couldn't get it right the first time, what makes you think they would get it right the second time around ? I think if you never had an iPhone maybe go through the trouble, but if you already have one, why go through the headache for another one. Makes no sense. Apple always launches news products with very low inventory to create excitement and demand. I did it once with the mini me, and never again. I can wait, if I really want an Apple Anything.

you made it through! congrats….
another MASSIVE FAIL by att… but still a nice new apple product, heh.
Hey Leo,
I just listened to this weeks TWIT and you sounded kinda down about the result of your 24 hour iPhone thing. I want to tell you thank you for doing it. To be direct, I am so happy I lived to see that day. The successes you have are opening new doors for other people and whole industries to do things the world never thought possible. Even if your event didn't live up to your hopes, it sets a wonderful precedent. The next netcaster that comes up with some ambitious idea won't think his media is too small for something so big. From now on through the rest of history, people will say “24 hour live independent coverage via the internet? Yeah, I've heard of that, how can we push the envelope further?”. Of course we wouldn't say last Thursday ranks next to Mr. Luther King's speech, but it would be on the same list.
Aside from the cultural event aspect, I personally enjoyed the coverage immensely.

Double post, first time. Sorry!
Iphone is crappy, reboots often. I think the product does not come close to the hype created by the Geek Apple fan boys on the net
