Scott Herriot posted this message yesterday on the message boards.

Hello y’all…Scott here. Last night, the 21st, CNN’s “Newsnight with Aaron Brown” ran a story I sent to them about the Loneliest Road in America. During the intro, Aaron said, in essence, “We’d like to hire Scott, but the big boys say we don’t have the money. But perhaps enough emails might change their mind.” The email address is newsnight@cnn.com. If you ever found me remotely amusing on ZDTV/TechTV, I’d appreciate any positve feedback you could throw their way. If you found me simply annoying, please send positive feedback anyway, since, for God’s sake, it’s the Holiday season. Much Love, Scott.

P.S. Once again, the email address is newsnight@cnn.com.

Tell your friends and get them to email, too. Let’s get Scott that job!

What happened to Scott? Did he quit or get the boot? I always liked Scott but felt he should be doing more than “Sites of the Day”. I wish him all the best.

I always liked Scott on TSS and on TechTV. Why is he not on their anylonger. His choice or the big wheels at TechTv choice?

  3. Anonymous on December 23rd, 2001 8:00 pm

The communist company named TechTv fired him, why, because of the stupidity of the management

  4. Anonymous on December 23rd, 2001 8:02 pm

ZDTV was much more of a family vibe than the stale robotic TechTV.

I e-mailed CNN about Scott. He always made me laugh, so it’s the least I could do.

Scott is hilarious, but how to use his comic talents? I’ll email for him. Does he still drink his lunch? roflmao. ;) :p =)

Zeke, he was one of the 130 who were laid off last monthfrom TechTV. The bits of him you see on TechTV now were pre-recorded before he left.

  10. Anonymous on December 23rd, 2001 10:45 pm

    All sent. Good luck, Scott.

    Merry Christmas!

  11. Anonymous on December 23rd, 2001 11:30 pm

Here’s what I sent to CNN:

I missed him when TechTV dropped Internet Tonight and missed him when The ScreenSavers show on TechTV didn’t know how to use his talent’s properly. When I find out he’s been hired by another media company, I’ll be sure to watch!

  12. Anonymous on December 24th, 2001 12:21 am

Well, I did the favor and shot them an e-mail. I put in some good words for Scott. I think he’s just what CNN needs. Scott, Leo- Have a Merry Christmas and I hope the New Year brings good things to you.

This has been a good year for me. I got the biggest bonus to date, more hours than I can handle and many long awaited goals have come true. (I finally paid off the cards.) We are so busy now that I barely have time to watch part of the show before I keel over for the night. I’ve become a workaholic. Which basically means I can’t sit still for any length of time even during off hours. The new cpu just sits there waiting on a monitor or a TV out card whichever comes first. I want to delve into it in my spare time, there just isn’t any. I’m worried that I’ll have to activate it before I can make the necessary changes. If I understand correctly that means I’ll have to do it again. What a joke. I went to a Christmas party last night. I couldn’t see any way out of it. I did my best to leave before I made a jerk out of myself, but I’m not sure if I succeeded. Not being the only one is small consolation. I never could stand big parties. I’d love to have been at yours just to meet everyone but there’s no way I would have imbibed. Too many interesting people and I’d be the interloper after all. Scott is way too cool to be unemployed. I’m going to send a few of my thoughts on him to the address you mentioned after I finish this. Patrick’s segment on replacing a laptop hard drive was excellent. Unfortunately I looked for it in the show notes to no avail. I wish I new what the adapter was. Not that I own one, but the tip is so useful due to the notoriously small size of standard ones installed by manufacturers. Your show is the best and I’ll be watching for years to come. I can’t make it to CES this year, but I’ll try to catch you guys on the road someday soon. Have a great Holiday everyone! You’ve become a welcome addition to my weekly viewing habits and I hope you stay with us for many years to come.

  21. Anonymous on December 24th, 2001 6:47 am

Sorry Scott but I have a question for Leo. Yes, this is out of the blue.

How do you go from a major in Chinese History to broadcasting? Were you deliberately torturing your parents? haha!

Seriously though. What made you choose Chinese History as a major in college?

  22. Anonymous on December 24th, 2001 11:09 am

I told CNN what a mistake they would be making to pass up a talent like Scott.

    Merry Christmas everybody! -Ron

    Subject: Hire: Scott Herriot

    To whom it concerns:

One of the stupidest actions TechTV ever did was let Scott Herriot go. He was

the funniest thing going for TechTV. TechTV feels a bit blah without Scott’s

presence. If you have the opportunity, hire Scott Herriot. You won’t regret it.

Just had to share something odd.

Monday evening I happened to be watching “Ancient Mysteries” (or something like that) on A&E, hosted by Leonard Nimoy. This episode was all about Bigfoot.

About midway through, they interviewed 2 Bigfoot chasers who had (allegedly) shot a video of a Bigfoot sitting in some dense foliage in the early 90s. One of those 2 guys? Scott Herriot. THE Scott Herriot (they had some old interview footage of him). I just about fell off the couch.

I always thought that Scott had a natural humor and ‘Internet Tonight’ was a good show. I also thought he got a raw deal in the end. Now, Tech TV has a a show about ‘fighting machines’, and 20+ year old ‘puppet show’. If Scott Herriot gets a show anywhere, I would definitely watch. I hope Scott knows he does have fans. Cliff

He would fit in well on the Daily Show.
